Curriculum Expectations (NPE / UBE)

• English Language: Infer meaning from context; identify figurative language (simile, metaphor); use direct and reported speech; write argumentative and expository essays (200–250 words); summarise passages in own words.
• Mathematics: Numbers up to 9,999,999; operations with fractions and decimals; percentage calculations; ratio and proportion; calculate volume of cubes and cuboids; interpret line graphs and pie charts; introduce basic algebra (use of letters).
• Basic Science & Technology: Reproduction in plants and animals; food and nutrition classes; rocks and minerals; solar system and Earth’s rotation; safety in the home and laboratory.
• Nigerian History: Post-independence Nigeria — First Republic, military coups, civil war (simplified), return to democracy; key leaders and their contributions.
• Social and Citizenship Education: Understanding democracy, rule of law and separation of powers; identify and resist negative peer pressure; drug abuse prevention.
• French and Arabic Language: Construct simple sentences (present tense); describe family and daily routine; count 1–100; basic question words.
• Digital Literacy: Create presentations; use spreadsheet for simple tables and charts; understand internet safety and cyber ethics.
